The Centro Norte Airport Group (OMA) revealed this Friday that it began an investigation after a cybersecurity incident that affected its information systems.

The company, which operates 13 airports in the country, most of them in the north of the country, indicated in a statement that it immediately activated its response protocols and security measures to mitigate the impact of the attack, without affecting its operations.

“Our operations are operating through alternative and backup systems,” detailed the company, which operates the airports of Acapulco, Chihuahua, Ciudad Juárez, Culiacán, Durango, Mazatlán, Monterrey, Reynosa, San Luis Potosí, Tampico, Torreón, Zacatecas and Zihuatanejo.

In addition, it indicated that no significant effects have been reported on the services it offers to users of its airports, although the situation continues to be evaluated.

“To date, there has been no material adverse effect on the company’s operations, results or financial position, which will be evaluated continuously until the situation has been completely resolved,” he said.

In addition, OMA highlighted that a forensic evaluation has been initiated to better understand the scope of the security breach and prevent future incidents, as it highlighted that what it seeks is to guarantee the integrity, confidentiality and availability of its systems.

For this forensic investigation, OMA’s Information Technology (IT) team collaborates with external cybersecurity experts, while maintaining continuous monitoring of its technological platforms.

“A forensic evaluation is being carried out to understand the scope of the cybersecurity incident,” he said.

So far, no additional information has been issued about the possible responsibility behind the cyberattack or whether it is a coordinated or isolated action.
