Grupo Coppel announced on Tuesday that it will invest 14,200 million pesos (about 700 million dollars) as part of its growth plan in Mexico in 2025, focusing on the opening of stores, digital transformation and sustainable initiatives.
The retailer and lender added that during the year he will create 6,800 jobs, which will be added to his current workforce of 120,000 workers.
Coppel said he will add about 100 new stores, especially aiming at the Veracruz, Sonora, Sinaloa, Chihuahua and Durango states.
The company stressed that it will also remode 60 stores to reach 1,980 operational units this year.

Grupo Coppel will seek to reduce its carbon footprint by 30%
Part of the investment -1,200 million pesos- will be intended for renewable energy, with the implementation of solar panels and the incorporation of sustainable vehicles.
The company said that the environmental impact that plans for this year would be equivalent to “planting trees in an area greater than 5 times the Chapultepec forest.”
He also stressed that by 2030 he plans to reduce his carbon footprint by 30%.
Grupo Coppel, which also operates in Argentina and Brazil, is made up of Coppel, BancoPpel and Agore Coppel stores, through which it has developed its department store business, electronic commerce and financial services.
Coppel sells appliances, electronic products, furniture and clothing, and operates a bank division.
