Grupo Salinas regretted at the General Assembly of the Inter-American Press Association (IAPA) that strategies that attempt to silence and extinguish critical voices supposedly persist in Mexico, according to a report from the Quadratín México agency.
This Friday one of the debate meetings on Judicialization and Censorship was held, within the framework of the 81st general assembly of the organization, held in the Dominican Republic.
In a position, the consortium headed by Ricardo Salinas Pliego pointed out that it is worrying that judicialization is reached so that those who focus on being critical voices stop being so at the expense of any tactic, and today the predominant one is that of persecution.
Grupo Salinas highlighted alleged harassment, public display and actions that violate freedom of expression
He affirmed that harassment and stigmatization towards the Mexican press have become a constant since 2018, when Morena came to power, and that the stigmatization of journalists and media has become a daily part of a model of misinformation from the Executive Branch.
He recalled what happened during AMLO’s six-year term, when the attacks on TV Azteca began, the group’s firm that the government described as liars, unreliable and without moral authority.

The situation, the consortium warned, has escalated to the point of including judicial proceedings against the Tax Administration System (SAT) and tax authorities for alleged duplicate collections of taxes corresponding to 2008 and 2009.
According to the positioning, harassment not only affects communication companies, but also citizens who have faced harassment from authorities through judicial means.
Grupo Salinas stated that the conditions for the free exercise of journalism in Mexico have deteriorated in recent years, however, “we are still here and we will continue here.”
