Grand Theft Auto 6 fans are no strangers to delays, but this latest report suggests a very specific type of delay that could ultimately stop a certain subsection of gamers from playing GTA 6 at launch. Naturally, gamers are pretty concerned by this new development, though it’s important to stress nothing has been confirmed yet.
According to a new report (via PPE), physical copies of Grand Theft Auto 6 could be delayed beyond November to stop leaks. It’s not uncommon for big gamers to appear in the wild early and leaks to spill out online if a retailer accidentally breaks the street date. This latest info comes from Graczdari, a “trusted” insider involved in physical video game releases in Europe. This same source previously leaked Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024‘s PlayStation port and the physical release of Oblivion remastered.
Has GTA 6 Been Delayed Again?
Nothing has been confirmed
Again, I want to stress that absolutely nothing has been confirmed at this stage. And even if Rockstar Games decides to delay physical copies of GTA 6, the digital release will still go ahead as planned on November 19, 2026. Even so, this would present a dilemma for many gamers out there who favor physical media: do they double-dip to avoid spoilers, or wait for the physical release? The report claims physical sales could end up delayed by 3–4 weeks, and may even end up releasing in early 2027. That’d be a hell of a wait for physical collectors.
Personally, I’d be amazed if Rockstar and Take-Two made the decision to delay the physical release. Street dates do get broken by retailers, yes, but Rockstar is litiogious enough that I’m sure no retailer would ever allow this to happen, at least not on purpose.
Fans Are Baffled By This Leak
Who can blame them?
Gamers are, unsurprisingly, baffled by this latest turn of events. The road to GTA 6 has been littered with controversy, and delaying physical copies would inevitably prove to be an incredibly unpopular decision. Then again, maybe Rockstar is well aware we’re all buying GTA 6 no matter what.
“I wouldn’t be shocked if the physical release is a barebones license on a disc that doesnt work until release day,” one fan wrote on the GTA 6 subreddit.
Another added: “I will be supremely annoyed and angry if that is true.”
“I wanna say that this is pure cap,” a third argued. “Never have they ever been this concerned about the game leaking so much so close to release. I can’t see them doing that for this reason. This game is not that top secret that they will jeopardize profits they can benefit from a physical release. If this is true, this is one of the most obscene reasons I have heard.”
Rockstar Games’ parent company Take-Two Interactive is holding its first earnings call of the year on February 3, so there’s a chance we’ll learn more about GTA 6 and this particular rumor then. Don’t get your hopes up, though.
