The reform of the Customs Law is a firm step towards more modern, efficient customs with clear rules, because it strengthens national competitiveness and operational certainty in foreign trade, according to the Confederation of Associations of Customs Agents of the Mexican Republic (CAAAREM).
“Customs Agents support a reform that balances trade facilitation with the integrity of the system, just as we fully agree with the president that legality is not an obstacle to competitiveness, but rather the basis for strengthening the national economy and trust in institutions,” said the president of the organization, Ignacio Zaragoza Ambrosi.
The representative added that the sector’s demands were heard and considered and thanked the dialogue with the federal government.

The reform to the Customs Law will be in force as of January 2026, except for some modifications to several articles, in order to give more time to the development of the regulations.
The president of CAAAREM reaffirmed the union’s commitment to the government and expressed his support for President Claudia Sheinbaum for promoting “a vision of legality, pluralism and zero tolerance for corruption.”
“Customs Agents are ready to continue contributing to the economic development and security of the country,” according to Zaragoza Ambrosi.
