Douglas Elliman has added a Compass executive to its Hamptons roster.
After three years with his former firm, Charles Manger joined Elliman as the executive manager of sales, the firm announced on Monday. In his new role, Manger is charged with overseeing roughly 140 agents across the brokerage’s offices in Southampton and Bridgehampton.
Elliman claimed the top spot among brokerages in the Hamptons for the second time in a row, according to The Real Deal’s latest annual rankings of firms by sales volume. The brokerage raked in $1.8 billion between June 2023 and June 2024, beating out Compass, which closed $1.45 billion in the same period.
“Elliman has been part of the community since I’ve grown up here,” said Manger, a Southampton native.
Throughout his career, Manger has moved between financial services and real estate, including a five-year stint as the vice president and executive director of Brown Harris Stevens’ Eastern Long Island operation. He left BHS in 2010 and spent more than a decade as a financial advisor with firms such as JPMorgan Chase and UBS before joining Compass.
Manger’s experience in the financial sector and “his deep local roots” were all factors in Elliman’s decision to bring him on board, according to a statement from Todd Bourgard, the CEO of Elliman’s Long Island and East End regions.
A spokesperson for Compass wrote in a statement that the firm “[wishes] Charles well.”
Compass has nabbed a number of Elliman’s top-producing agents over the last few months, as the firm grappled with mounting losses and the sudden departure of its longtime CEO and chairman, Howard Lorber.
The Holly Parker Team, one of Elliman’s top teams in New York and Florida, moved to Compass earlier this year. The broker, who led a top team over 24 years at the brokerage, is now suing the firm over $1.6 million it is demanding in clawbacks.
But Elliman has managed to snag a few from Compass’ ranks as well. Earlier this month, Miami new development marketing executive Nikol Solares went back to Elliman after just a few months at Compass.
