Harfuch rules out that the Sinaloa Cartel is ‘finished’ after detention of El Mayo

The Secretary of Citizen Security and Protection, Omar García Harfuch, ruled out that the Sinaloa Cartel, from whom one of the leaders was Ismael ‘El Mayo’ Zambada, currently detained in the US, is “finished”, although he acknowledged that some of his factions are “diminished”.

“No, the Cartel (from Sinaloa) cannot be finished because there are several heads of this that was at the time of the Sinaloa Cartel,” said Secretary of Citizen Security and Protection, Omar García Harfuch during the town of the town.

“Well, there are still important cells and leaders who have to be detained (…) certain factions of the Sinaloa Cartel are diminished,” Harfuch said.

The US authorities have stressed that the cartel is “beheaded” after the latest arrests and expect “May” to provide useful information in its fight against drug trafficking in exchange for prison benefits as a result of a cooperation agreement between the parties.

Zambada was “arrested” (there is talk of kidnapping) in July last year after landing at the Santa Teresa airport (New Mexico, EU) on a plane with Joaquín Guzmán López, one of the children of El Chapo, who, according to May, held a trap to take it to the United States and deliver it to the authorities.

President Claudia Sheinbaum said Wednesday that it would be good to investigate officials and politicians who allegedly received bribes from the drug trafficker Ismael ‘El Mayo’ Zambada, as the boss said in his trial in the United States, although he indicated that he was not worried about Zambada’s statements, since any statement of the drug trafficker would have to go through evidence.

“Of course we are against any bribe or act of corruption that has to do particularly with the security issue, so any investigation is good,” said the president during the morning.

The May, co -founder and historical leader of the Sinaloa Cartel, declared himself guilty of two drug trafficking positions in a federal court in New York and assured that he had bribed for more than five decades to Mexican politicians and officials.
