The long-awaited third season of the hit HBO series “Euphoria” premiered brief clips this Friday morning, offering the first glimpses of Rue Bennett (Zendaya) and other main characters post-high school, ahead of the series premiere in April.
Key data
In new images from “Euphoria,” the voiceover of Zendaya’s character Rue confirms that the new season will pick up several years after the characters graduate from school.
“A few years after high school, I don’t know if life went exactly the way I wanted it to,” Rue (Zendaya) says.
The short trailer offers glimpses of Lexi (Maude Apatow) at a formal dinner, Maddy (Alexa Demie) doing her makeup, Nate (Jacob Elordi) dancing almost shirtless, Cassie (Sydney Sweeney) smiling in an animal costume, and Jules (Hunter Schafer) lounging in a chair with bright eye shadow.
The trailer shows Rue in the passenger seat of a car speeding down a hill, and then shows her entering a bar where a new character, supposedly a drug lord played by Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, tells her: “You walk into my house and you don’t even introduce yourself.”
Also this Friday morning, HBO’s social media accounts offered brief previews of quotes from the season three script, including one from Rue (“Life is Beautiful”), Cassie (“The Fairy Tale Is Over”), Nate (“You’ve Gotta Have Faith”), Jules (“Do You Remember Me?”), Lexi (“I Can’t Abuse My Power”) and another from Maddy (“It’s Important to Have a Moral Code”).

What else do we know about Euphoria season 3?
HBO is yet to reveal the exact premiere date, but the new season will premiere in April 2026. Showrunner Sam Levinson offered some details in an HBO presentation last week, stating that the season begins with Rue south of the Mexican border trying to get money to bribe a drug dealer. He commented that Cassie and Nate are getting married, while Jules studies art, Maddy works for a Hollywood talent agency, and Lexi is an assistant to a showrunner, played by Sharon Stone.
Who stars in season 3 of Euphoria?
Much of the main cast, including Zendaya, Sweeney, Schafer, Elordi, Demie, Apatow, Martha Kelly, Eric Dane and Chloe Cherry, will return. Several new cast members will join the series, including Stone, Rosalía, Marshawn Lynch, Danielle Deadwyler, Natasha Lyonne and Trisha Paytas. Some “Euphoria” actors will not be returning, including Barbie Ferreira, Storm Reid and Nika King.

Why did this season take so long?
The long-awaited season will premiere more than four years after the end of the second season. The lengthy delay was reportedly due to the 2023 Hollywood labor strikes, as well as on-set tensions between some cast members and Levinson, and the deaths of actor Angus Cloud and producer Kevin Turen.
Meanwhile, Levinson focused on his other HBO series, “The Idol,” which was a critical failure, while many of the “Euphoria” cast members launched successful film careers.
Tangent
HBO debuted new footage from “Euphoria” as part of a video offering previews of its 2026 lineup, along with other offerings including new seasons of “The Pitt,” “Industry” and “House of the Dragon.”
