Every weekday the CNBC Investing Club with Jim Cramer holds a “Morning Meeting” livestream at 10:20 a.m. ET. Here’s a recap of Monday’s key moments. The S & P 500 continued to sell off following Friday’s big slide on the stronger-than-expected jobs report. The 10-year Treasury yield spiked to over 4.8%, a new 14-month high, ahead of this week’s inflation reports. Since closing at a record high on Dec. 6, the S & P 500 has pulled back around 4%. It has also given back its post-Election Day rally. The market is not yet oversold, according to the S & P 500 Short Range Oscillator . But it got close as of Friday’s close, and we have a 9% cash position at the ready. Nvidia tumbled about 3% on Monday on a new, broader Biden administration artificial intelligence chip export control announcement, a further step aimed at keeping cutting-edge U.S.-made tech out of China’s hands. Citi analysts, meanwhile, say Chinese tech giant ByteDance is likely a 3% to 5% customer of our other Club chip stock, Broadcom . The analysts think the rest of Broadcom’s AI business “will dwarf” any risk from not being able to ship to China. The stock was flat, which Jeff Marks, director of portfolio analysis for the Club, sees as about right. TD Cowen upgraded Club stock Linde to a buy from hold and raised its price target to $515 per share from $480. “Industrial Gas typically benefits in inflationary environments, and we expect Linde to benefit as much or more than peers,” the analysts wrote. Marks agreed, saying we like the stock as a “defensive materials company that can grow earnings no matter the macro.” The Club last added shares in mid-December at around $430 each. Linde rose more than 1% Monday, to roughly $420 per share. (See here for a full list of the stocks in Jim Cramer’s Charitable Trust.)
