(EFE) .- A humpback whale died stranded on the beach of Coyuca de Benítez, in Guerrero, with a tied rope and part of a fishing network in the tail, so environmentalists denounced on Wednesday that it was the fault of irresponsible fishermen.

Restaurantes from the beach area indicated that the sea expelled the body of the ketacean, about seven meters long, the afternoon on Tuesday, when its body floated on the banks of the sea and then felt in the sand.

The neighbors, worried about what happened, reviewed the animal, which usually weighs between 25 and 30 tons, but they could no longer do anything and detected a network trapped in the tail and a rope that came out of their mouths.

The neighbors and merchants asked the environmental authorities of the Federal Government and the Secretariat of Integral Risk and Civil Protection Management of Guerrero who intervene and help to bury the whale, because they fear that a vessel drag it in the sea inside and decompose.

In addition, members of the Civil Association Environmental Warriors regretted that the mammal has died on Tuesday, Mother Earth Day and Nature, because of “pollution and irresponsible fishing.”

Members of the organization stated that the fact is “serious” because it risks public health in the face of the decomposition of the body that can contaminate the beach, in addition to the damage caused to the ecosystem, because the death alters fauna and natural balance.
