In its most recent report, the agency said that at 06:00 local time, Lorena was located 180 kilometers (km) to the west-southwest of Cabo San Lázaro and 430 km south of Punta Eugenia, both locations in the state of Baja California Sur, northwest of the country.

The cyclone advances northwest at 13 kilometers per hour (km/h), with maximum sustained winds of 120 km/hypas that reach 160 km/h.

The SMN foresaw that the system will continue to weaken to tropical storm during the day near the Peninsula of Baja California.

In addition, he warned that torrential rains (150 to 250 millimeters) are foreseen in Baja California Sur; intense (75 to 150 mm) in the south of Baja California, the west and southern Sonora and in the north and the coast of Sinaloa; Very strong (50 to 75 mm) in Durango, and strong (25 to 50 mm) in Chihuahua.

Mexico foresees up to 20 cyclones with name in the Pacific, of which between four and six could be category 3, 4 and even 5.

So far eleven storms have formed in the Mexican Pacific: Alvin, Bárbara, Cosme, Dalila, Erick, Flossie, Gil, Henriette, Ivo, Juliette and Kiko.

The last hurricane registered in the country was Erick, which touched land in southern Mexico on June 19 as hurricane category 3 and caused damage mainly in Oaxaca and Guerrero, causing the death of a minor and diverse effects on electrical infrastructure, homes and tree falls.
