Hutchison Ports LCT reported that for the second consecutive year it moved more than one million 500 thousand containers (TEUs) through the Lázaro Cárdenas port terminal.

“Reaching one million 500 thousand TEUs for the second consecutive year not only represents a number, but the consolidation of a terminal that is committed to efficiency, reliability and sustained growth,” said Alfredo Huesca Sánchez, general manager of LCT.

He indicated that the Lázaro Cárdenas terminal maintains a trajectory of sustained growth in container handling, driven by the dynamism of foreign trade.

The CMA CGM CEDRUS ship arrived at the end of the year and symbolically marked the operation that allowed us to reach this figure.

The manager added that this result reinforces the positioning of the terminal as a key actor within the national port system and a strategic ally for Mexico’s foreign trade.

During the year, the Lázaro Cárdenas terminal advanced in Phase III of its expansion project, which incorporates an additional 28 hectares of operational area and 345 new meters of dock.

Upon completion of this stage in 2025, the terminal will have 1,278 meters of dock and a total area of 104 hectares. This infrastructure will allow greater volumes of cargo to be absorbed with high levels of efficiency and sustainability.

In the environmental field, the terminal maintains its alignment with the Net Zero strategy of Hutchison Ports México, led by Jorge Magno Lecona. The goal is to reduce absolute greenhouse gas emissions by 54.6 percent by 2033 and achieve net zero emissions across the entire value chain by 2050.
