The Mexican Institute of Finance Executives (IMEF) slightly reduced its economic growth forecast in 2025 to 0.35%, from the previous 0.40%.

The GDP expansion forecast for 2026 remained at 1.3%, according to the most recent monthly survey by the private sector organization.

The IMEF maintained its forecast of 270,000 formal jobs in 2026, a figure very far from what is required to employ the people who join the labor market every year.

The survey published this Thursday indicates that in 2025, 182,500 formal jobs would have been created, and by 2027, 343,000 are expected.

“At this point we should be generating almost a million jobs (each year),” according to ITESO, Jesuit University of Guadalajara.
