The National Electoral Institute (INE) approved a top of personal campaign expenses of 220,326.20 pesos for the candidacies that will participate in the extraordinary electoral process of the Judicial Power of the Federation (PEEPJF) 2024-2025.
According to the electoral body, the expenses limit applies uniformly to the different positions in dispute, including ministers and ministers of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN), members of the Court of Judicial Discipline, Magistratures of the Superior and Regional Chamber of the Electoral Court of the Judicial Power of the Federation (TEPJF), as well as judges and magistrates of collegiate courts and appeal.
As established in article 96 of the Political Constitution of the United Mexican States, the candidacies cannot receive public or private financing, so they must solve their expenses with their own resources.
Approval of the electoral geographical framework
In the same extraordinary session, the General Council of the INE approved the electoral geographical framework for the extraordinary elections of the Judiciary in seven entities: Aguascalientes, Baja California, Coahuila, Mexico City, State of Mexico, Michoacán and Sonora.
This determination defines the territorial scope in which the electorate will be distributed for the day of June 1, 2025, with the aim of guaranteeing equal conditions for the exercise of the vote.
Likewise, the vacancies generated in the local councils and their occupation were reported, as well as the accreditation procedure of citizens interested in participating as electoral observers in this process.
