The National Electoral Institute (INE) installed this Wednesday the Temporary Commission of the Extraordinary Electoral Process of the Judicial Branch of the Federation, which will organize the first popular elections for judges, magistrates and the Supreme Court in June 2025.
The commission will be headed by counselor Jorge Montaño Ventura, and will also be made up of counselors Norma de la Cruz Magaña and Rita Bell López, who recognized the challenge of organizing the unprecedented elections.
“We know well what we are facing, we know how to make choices and we do them well,” they indicated in a statement.
Montaño Ventura assured that the team of directors, the local boards and the 300 executive district boards will be at his disposal.

“Regardless of the fatigue, the sleepless nights or even the personal sacrifices, the truth is that an effort of such magnitude carries a similar reward: the satisfaction of collaborating so that Mexican democracy is, once again, an example at an international level.” ”, he asserted.
Meanwhile, López Vences recognized that the organization of this election represents a challenge in “organizational terms” for the correct implementation of the election, especially “given the short time” available for its planning, since it was suspended due to the multiple protections and suspensions. dictated by judges.
He stressed that the INE will be “up to the task” of citizen demand, who expect a fair, equitable, transparent and well-organized electoral process, so it is time to show the institutional strength that characterizes the electoral body.
Counselor Norma de la Cruz explained that another challenge will be to fully understand the election of judges, magistrates and ministers of the Supreme Court, to not only implement it, but also communicate and explain it to the citizens.
This is because a different voting method could be implemented than the one already known and the one already implemented for the election of other political officials.
“It forces us to think a little outside the mold that we have and that we know, it also forces us to fully carry out this new constitutional mandate, where we not only have to understand it to execute it ourselves, but also to be able to communicate and explain it to the citizens,” he explained.
