The Institute of the National Housing Fund for Workers (Infonavit) reported that it reached 250 thousand homes contracted for construction, as part of the Housing for Well-being program.

The figure represents more than 20% of the six-year objective of building 1 million 200 thousand homes, and is part of a growth that the government plans to maintain at the end of the year, when it estimates that it will exceed 300 thousand homes contracted, according to a statement.

Infonavit reported that the 250 thousand homes will make up 217 housing complexes distributed in 30 entities in the country.

The entities with the highest number of contracted homes are:

  • Veracruz, with 42,260 homes.
  • Tamaulipas, with 34,662.
  • Yucatán, with 28,474.
  • Tabasco, with 26,034.
  • Sinaloa, with 16,151.
  • Quintana Roo, with 13,104.

The institute detailed that the homes will have at least 60 square meters and will be intended for working people who earn between 1 and 2 minimum wages.

Each one will have two bedrooms, living-dining room, kitchen, full bathroom, service area, green and recreational areas, as well as electricity, water and drainage services. They will also be located near schools, hospitals, work centers and public transportation.

To access these homes, the beneficiaries must meet three requirements:

  1. Have at least six months of work experience.
  2. Receive an income of between 1 and 2 minimum monthly salaries.
  3. Not having a current mortgage loan with Infonavit.

The Institute stressed that the homes will have an average cost of 600 thousand pesos, below the market price, under the premise that “housing is a right, not a commodity.”

Infonavit called on its beneficiaries to keep their contact information – telephone, email and address – updated through My Infonavit Account or directly at the Service Centers. In these spaces you can also consult the available offer and schedule visits to the new housing developments.
