Manuel Rivero Zambrano, General Director of Regional, says that the investment in infrastructure, renewal of branches, acquisition of ATMs and digital platforms is the key behind the growth recorded in the first quarter of 2025

“We have been able to grow in a very structured way, because we have invested a lot in infrastructure, in the renewal of branches, the acquisition of ATMs and digital platforms,” Mexico tells Forbes Mexico.

According to the banker, Banregio and Hey Banco had a positive result in the first quarter, despite the persistent volatility in the financial markets of Mexico and the world.

Banregio is focused on granting credit to larger companies and serves individuals with a higher level of advice, while customers in Hey Banco are served through a self -service application.

“On the physical side we have invested in Banregio with a growth of branches, from 20 per year and the company portfolio greatly growth,” says Rivero Zambrano.

“In case of Hey Banco, we will continue with the services and products that we have already done everything and focus on the credit portfolio,” says the manager, who is the fourth generation of a family of bankers that has been in the banking business since 1947.

Through the commercial banks offered “we have had a good performance in the uptake and we need a little more credit growth to be more balanced,” he says.

Manuel Rivero Zambrano sees among the challenges to face in the short and medium term the same volatility signals, so greater certainty is necessary.

“What we want is certainty, which is one of the great challenges we have,” he says. The clarity shown in the financial market is a respite for companies, which are the main source of Banregio portfolio growth.

“The certainty for companies resent it, because it is not easy to make decisions at this time (volatility),” he says.

The manager comments that they already possess the Hey Banco bank license, something that “we were looking for a long time and finally it is expected that in this quarter the split and formal authorization for the start -up of the bank within the financial system is already completed.”

As the digitalization in the banking system in Mexico and the world has advanced, who did not invest in time is being left, states.

“With artificial intelligence, because what you tell you do you do your homework with digitalization, it is already more difficult to start with the theme of artificial intelligence,” he adds.

“The one who has already invested for a long time can now implement it faster than those they are digitizing,” he concludes.
