The Employers’ Confederation of the Mexican Republic (Coparmex) warned that the reforms to Infonavit approved in the Senate may alter the balance in decision-making within the institute, by allowing a single sector to prevail over the other two.
“This compromises the equal tripartite essence that has been the core of Infonavit since its creation,” the management leadership indicated in a statement.
He explained that equal tripartism has been the fundamental pillar of Infonavit since its creation, since it guarantees the equitable participation of the government, labor and business sectors in decision-making.
“Upsetting this balance puts at risk not only transparency and accountability, but also the fair representation that has been key to protecting workers’ rights,” he said.
He stated that the reforms to the Infonavit Law and the Federal Labor Law must be the result of a broad consensus between workers, employers and the government to avoid impacts on labor rights.

For this reason, he requested that the changes approved by the Senate be carefully reviewed, and called for effective tripartite dialogue and for carrying out a broad exercise in which the voices of all sectors involved are heard, before the modifications are ratified by the Chamber. of Deputies.
“We value the recent statements made by the President of the Republic, Claudia Sheinbaum, in which she ensures that workers’ savings are fully protected, that Infonavit’s tripartism will not change and that the reforms seek to strengthen the institute’s governance,” he explained.
“We defend that the resources administered by Infonavit are the exclusive property of the workers. It is unacceptable that these savings can be used for purposes other than their interests or the objectives of the Institute. Their destiny must always be focused on protecting and benefiting those who generated them with their daily efforts,” he added.
The coordinator of the Morena bench in the Chamber of Deputies, Ricardo Monreal, declared yesterday that the discussion of the opinion will be postponed until next year to give way to a period of reflection, so there will be no extraordinary period on Wednesday to review and vote. the proposal.
