Iran accused US President Donald Trump on Tuesday of fomenting political destabilization, inciting violence and threatening the country’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and national security, according to a letter sent to the United Nations Security Council.
The letter responds to previous statements by Trump, who assured today that he will send economic aid to opponents in Iran and who once again threatened with a possible military attack against the Government of Tehran for the repression of civil protests in recent weeks.
In the letter, the Iranian ambassador to the United Nations, Amir Saeid Iravani, maintained that “the United States and the Israeli regime bear direct and undeniable legal responsibility for the consequent loss of innocent civilian lives, particularly among young people.”
The letter was also sent to the UN Secretary General, António Guterres, and comes in response to a social media post made by Trump earlier that same Tuesday.

Tehran considers that this message from the American president contributes to escalating tensions and violates fundamental principles of international law, by encouraging actions that put the stability and security of the country at risk.
The protests that began on the 28th reached their peak last Thursday with an explosion of demonstrations in practically the entire country.
Human Rights Activists (HRA) said today it had confirmed the deaths of a total of 1,850 people, including 9 minors, in the 17 days of anti-government protests in Iran and also more than 16,700 arrests, as published in its HRANA news agency.
