Intel Corporation’s (Nasdaq: INTC ) board meeting in mid-September is fast approaching, and the plans that executives will present to address the company’s liquidity problems continue to leak to the press and media. Last week, Bloomberg reported that Intel was exploring the possibility of splitting into two separate companies, one for chip development and one for manufacturing. That plan is not expected to be unveiled at this time, Reuters reported two days ago, and CEO Pat Gelsinger and his team are currently working on other measures to ease cash flow problems and allow the company to continue building. factories and develop advanced manufacturing processes that will bring them on par with the world’s largest chipmakers. At the same time, Intel launched a new processor with an artificial intelligence engine.

Yesterday, Intel unveiled its new processors for PCs, codenamed Lunar Lake and marketed as the Core Ultra 200V, which are available for pre-order and will be fully available on September 24th. It is Intel’s most advanced processor for Windows-based PCs. It was developed under Israeli leadership and is manufactured outside of Intel by the company’s rival, Taiwan’s TSMC. Buyers of all PCs made by Lenovo, Samsung, Acer, Asus, LG and MSI with the new processor will be entitled to a free update to Copilot+, Microsoft’s AI software suite, starting in November.

The design, architecture and development of the Lunar Lake processor, as well as the next-generation CPU Panther Lake, is managed from Haifa by an Israeli team led by Zohar Tsaba, vice president of the Customer Development Group at Intel. Panther Lake’s development manager is Barak Hasson and Client Development Group’s group and design manager is Yaron Alankry. “Three years ago, we identified the enormous potential of artificial intelligence in personal computers,” Tsaba said in the company’s announcement. “We decided to invest in the development of a powerful artificial intelligence engine, although at the time it was not clear how it would be used. Today we can see that it was the right gamble.

“The Lunar Lake project is managed from start to finish from Israel. The Israeli team is responsible for all critical stages: product definition, concept development, architecture planning, design and execution. The entire project involves hundreds of engineers and professionals,” Tsaba added.

Announced last June at Computex in Taiwan, Moon Lake’s launch coincides right in time with the start of the school year and the end-of-year holidays. The fourth quarter has traditionally been the strongest for Intel, as people buy cheap PCs. Intel still needs to prove its leadership in the core processors of the PC market, as more companies are paying attention, including AMD, which has taken market share from Intel, and Qualcomm, which has so far dominated the smartphone market. is in the processor market and is currently trying its luck in the computer market. So far, competing processors have met with poor reviews. For example, the technology site The Verge found that the Asus computer with an AMD processor was not a worthy competitor to Apple’s Mac computers, and Qualcomm’s processors were criticized for their excellent video gaming capabilities.
