EFE.- The Israeli Ministry of Justice published on Friday night a list of the 735 Palestinian prisoners and detainees who will be released during the first phase of the 42-day ceasefire agreement, in exchange for 33 Israeli hostages.
The Ministry stated that it does not know the order in which the prisoners, including minors, will be released, and added that their release will not occur before Sunday at 4:00 p.m. local time tomorrow (2:00 p.m. GMT).
On the list of prisoners is Jalida Jarar, a Palestinian lawmaker who is a member of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, and who was arrested at the end of December in the occupied West Bank. Jarar has been detained since then without charge.
The name of Zakaria Zubeidi also appears, one of the leaders of the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, the armed wing of Fatah in Jenin. Zubeidi was one of the 2021 Gilboa prison escapees and was involved in the attack on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s Likud party affiliate in 2002 in which six people were killed.
Hamas and other factions such as Islamic Jihad still have 94 captives in their possession who were kidnapped in Israel during the multiple attack in October 2023. At least 34 of them are already dead, according to the Israeli Government, although the number is expected to rise. real is greater.
All but 10 of the 94 hostages are Israeli or dual nationals, while eight are from Thailand, one from Nepal and one from Tanzania, according to the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office.
Negotiations for the second and third phases of the ceasefire – when Israeli soldiers and the bodies of deceased captives will be released – will begin on the 16th of the implementation of the agreement, according to the draft to which EFE had access.
This morning, after a meeting of more than six hours, the Government of Israel ratified the ceasefire and hostage exchange agreement, which will come into force in the Gaza Strip tomorrow at 8:30 a.m. (6:30 a.m. 30 GMT).
