The Israeli Minister of Defense, Yoav Gallant, took pride this Sunday in the results achieved so far by the troops in the ground incursion in southern Lebanon which, he assures, is allowing the “destroy” of the Shiite militia Hezbollah and its military capabilities.

“We are not only destroying the enemy, but we are also dismantling their tunnels, weapons depots and their attack infrastructure. The result is clear: in the places that Hezbollah prepared to use as platforms to attack us there are now troops carrying out operations,” Gallant told the Army’s 98th Division after visiting Israel’s border with Lebanon today.

On the other hand, the Defense Minister indicated that the members of the Lebanese group captured by Israeli forces are sharing more information with them and that they are “terrified” at the possibility that their militia may “be collapsing.”

“Prisoners are telling us what is happening and that they are terrified because they know they don’t have what it takes to deal with what is on the battlefield. Not in terms of strength, combat capability, precision or determination,” he told the soldiers.

Since Israel launched its invasion of southern Lebanon in the early hours of October 1, at least 24 Israeli soldiers have died in attacks on the border (16 have fallen in combat in the south of the neighboring country and another 8 have fallen in Israeli).

In the last day, Israeli forces attacked more than 100 Shiite military objectives, including “captured military buildings and a weapons warehouse that were used by Hezbollah,” the Army reported today in a statement.

“During the activity, the soldiers located an underground well and a parking spot used by Hezbollah terrorists next to a warehouse where many weapons arsenals were located,” their note states.

Furthermore, this Sunday Israel again intensively bombed the southern suburbs of Beirut, known as Dahye, after the Israeli Army ordered the evacuation of several points in this damaged area located about six kilometers from the Lebanese capital, now converted into a ghost suburb.

In a year of hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah, more than 2,400 people have been killed in Lebanese territory alone – most of them in the last month – and more than 1.2 million have been forced to leave their homes to flee the violence. , which has caused a humanitarian crisis in the Mediterranean country.
