After almost 20 years of her arrest together with the French Florence Cassez, Israel Vallarta, accused in Mexico for a kidnapping in 2005, says that her freedom was a “own struggle and her family”, and asks those who say that their case is a fraud that swallows “their poison, get to read the sentence, learn and understand”.

Vallarta speaks with Efe after having left prison, after being arrested and accused, almost two decades ago, the deprivation of liberty of six people, in addition to other crimes such as organized crime and carrying cartridges.

In addition, he was accused of being the leader of the Los Zodiac Band, a name given by the then director of the former Federal Research Agency (AFI), Genardo García Luna, and his police investigation manager, Luis Cárdenas Palomino, both currently in prison in the United States.

“To those people who are saying that I have contact with the president (from Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum) and favoritism, because I never insist, I have sold myself with anyone,” says Vallarta.

His arrest became a media when transmitted nationwide, although later, a report found that everything was a montage orchestrated by García Luna and Cárdenas Palomino.

It was the Mariana Vieyra District Judge – electa in the last elections of the Judiciary – who issued the accused of the defendant, highlighting “the corrupting effect” derived from the assembly, which was also used in 2013 for the release of Cassez, ex -partner of Vallarta and who, he says, does not know anything since 2006.

“While I was in prison, I was outside with full justice (…) with that hope of not rotting in jail,” he confesses in the department he shares with his wife, Mary Sainz, about those years of confinement in the highlands (State of Mexico), a high security prison where the drug trafficker Joaquín ‘El Chapo’ Guzmán was.

Vallarta, a new life

That 35 -year -old man who saw on television with the deviant look and the hit face answering questions to the television stations while he was sustained from the neck by Cárdenas Palomino, now he has 55 and his release story – with date of August 1 – is already in the letter of four songs.

The fourth topic comes in a message to Mary’s phone in full interview. Vallarta wins the emotion and reproduces it.

“The old justice fell, with Israel the flame that illuminates the prison is born,” is the verse with which Vallarta looks at the camera with crying eyes to say: “I will be the voice of the ‘vallarts’ that do not listen to them, so that all those families, which have relegated and discriminated, I will lend you my voice.”

In addition, he stressed that his freedom is not complete, because “I also want the freedom of my family, there is my brother Mario (Vallarta) and my nephew (Sergio Cortéz), then I will continue the fight.”

He emphasized that Friday in the Zocalo of Mexico City plan to organize an open call to expose “some circumstances” to the Government of Mexico, such as public apology to his family.

“I am scared of this responsibility that I am going to take (…) No one is forcing me, nobody is hiring me, nobody is sponsoring me, no group or parties (politicians) (…) I am making this decision from the heart of my wife, mine and my family,” he said.

He even mentioned that thanks to an institution he will be able to study the degree in Criminal Law together with his wife, who has been an activist for 20 years and defending the case of Vallarta, a situation for which, Sainz denounces, has been physically and psychologically attacked by Mexican authorities.

During the interview, Vallarta holds a notebook, and says that in prison he filled five ‘blocks’ (notebooks) with “a lot of information”, and reveals that at that time – when he began writing in the high plateau – he had the idea of “making a book or something.”

Vallarta has endless stories within Mexican prisons, where he says he suffered “abuse and torture,” as when an authority took him out of the prison and kept him tied from hands and feet for seven hours without food or water.

He also remembers when he looked at the Altiplano the “scared eyes” of Cárdenas Palomino, who never directed the word, only with third parties, who offered him money to “withdraw the complaints” against his torturer, offers he never accepted.
