The former Secretary of Public Security of Tabasco is transferred to the Maximum Security Prison El Altiplano, after being expelled from Paraguay.
The former official Hernán Bermúdez Requena, alleged leader of the Criminal Group La Barredora and linked to the Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel (CJNG), arrived in Mexico and was transferred to the maximum security prison El Altiplano, in the center of the country, after having been expelled from Paraguay.
Bermúdez Requena -Alias’ El Granduelo ‘or’ Commander H’- arrived on Thursday morning at Tapachula International Airport, Chiapas, after having made a scale in Bogotá, Colombia, and almost immediately transferred to Toluca airport, local media reported on Thursday.
It is expected that in the next few hours be admitted to the Federal Center for Social Reintegration No. 1, located in the municipality of Almoloya de Juárez, in the central state of Mexico, after being arrested in Paraguay on September 12.
Although the former official sought to avoid extradition, on Wednesday the Paraguayan authorities confirmed their expulsion, after verifying that Bermúdez’s income and stay in that country was “irregular”, according to the Secretary Security Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC) of Mexico, Omar García Harfuch.

The delivery of the alleged criminal leader occurred “after the Mexican authorities formally referred by diplomatic route the withdrawal of the request for detention for extradition purposes,” the Paraguay Prosecutor’s Office said in a statement.
From Wednesday night, around the Altiplano prison, there was a strong operation and military deployment.
Bermúdez Requena was Secretary of Security of Tabasco during the management of then Governor Adam Augusto López Hernández, who is now a Morena senator, after having served as Secretary of the Interior with Andrés Manuel López Obrador.
After his landing in Mexico, the detainee was given an arrest warrant against him, as the Secretary of Citizen Security and Protection, Omar García Harfuch had advanced.
The former official had an arrest warrant since last February for the crimes of criminal association, extortion and express kidnapping.

Bermúdez Requena is one of the alleged leaders of the ‘La Barredora’, a criminal cell dedicated to crimes such as narcomenudeo and extortion, linked to the CJNG, one of the six Mexican cartels that the United States designated as terrorists in February.
According to intelligence information, the former official would have had links with criminals since 1999 and a possible arrest in 2006 for the execution of a farmer.
On July 22, the Government of Mexico confirmed that it weighed an arrest warrant and red card of the Interpol against the former Fasco official, who was investigated since 2024 for his links with organized crime.
President Claudia Sheinbaum said on Wednesday that all the information is being gathered to clarify the case of Bermúdez Requena, and pointed out that it will be the FGR that conducts the investigation to delve into its alleged links with organized crime and how it was involved with the CJNG.
Last Saturday, Bermúdez Requena was captured in a luxurious house in a closed neighborhood in the city of Mariano Roque Alonso, in Asunción.
On Wednesday, the National Anti -Drug Secretariat of Paraguay showed images of the transfer of Bermúdez Requena dressed in an orange pole, with a bulletproof vest and guarded to the air terminal, where it was delivered to the Mexican immigration authorities.
According to the Paraguayan authorities, Bermúdez Requena intended to install its operations in the country, where it entered illegally from Brazil on an unclear date.
