Riviera Nayarit.- Judicial reform is a fact and it would be regrettable and irresponsible for an organization like Concanaco Servytur not to promote among its members to participate in the call to elect judges and magistrates by direct vote, said this Wednesday the president of the organization, Octavio de la Torre. .

“Given the current situation of a judicial reform (…) it would be regrettable for an organization with the social and economic responsibility that it has, because we are 66% of the GDP, not to call on citizens to participate responsibly. It would be irresponsible for the organization not to do so,” he said at a press conference.

De la Torre said that there may be those who agree or disagree with the judicial reform, but it is up to Concanaco Servytur to address the facts because it is something that is already published and is in force.

“We would be wrong not to inform that the date and deadline are going to close because then what it might seem like is that they don’t want more people to register. If it is a public and open contest, it must be reported,” he declared.

“We were surprised that (the call) was happening at night, that the date on which candidates could register was going to close,” he noted.

He added that after the registration of candidates ends, the confederation he presides will establish an observatory to monitor the process and create forums to learn about the profiles of the selected candidates.

“Because these judges, magistrates and ministers are going to resolve controversies between individuals, and between individuals and the government, and we have the full right to know and know which are the best profiles,” he stated.

“I think we are the first (private sector organization to promote the call), but we are also the first in many things. This organization is the founder of business organizations in Mexico,” he stated.

De la Torre led a press conference in Nayarit to present the second business summit of leaders in commerce, services and tourism, which will be held this Thursday and Friday in this entity.

The call to participate in the evaluation and selection of applications for judges ends this Sunday.
