The governor of Jalisco, Pablo Lemus Navarro, detailed the progress that has been made in the state he governs towards the celebration of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, of which the state will host together with CDMX and Nuevo León.
The Akron Stadium, in Zapopan, will host four matches of the FIFA World Cup 26, including the second match of the Mexican National Team, which will take place on Thursday, June 18, 2026.
According to details shared by Lemus Navarro, the Plaza Liberación, in the Historic Center of Guadalajara, will be the setting for the FIFA Fan Festival, where activities will be offered for visitors.

There will be live screenings of the matches, cultural shows, interactive activations, gastronomic offerings and unique experiences that reflect the traditions of Jalisco, he explained.
Likewise, the governor highlighted, the process of expanding the state’s two airports continues.
Also, he said, the state government is advancing in the rehabilitation project of the Highway to Chapala, which will connect with the entrance to the Historic Center of Guadalajara.
“We are doing what we have to do, our work together with the Federation, so that the visitors who come to the four World Cup matches that we will have in the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area, have a truly joyful, festive atmosphere. of color,” he commented.
After the event, he added, Jalisco will consolidate itself as a benchmark for hospitality, organization and culture. Additionally, Jalisco is working on the designation of a Local Committee, which includes municipalities such as Guadalajara and Zapopan, and which will collaborate together with the FIFA Organizing Committee, to address key issues such as mobility, sustainability, security, human rights and tourism.
