The Mexico office of the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) announced a historical record of Mexican visitors who traveled to Japanese territory in 2024.

More than 151,800 Mexicans visited the Japanese country, which represents an increase of 60.3% compared to 2023.

The number of Mexican tourists in Japan during 2024 was also 111.6% higher compared to 2019.

This growth rate, said the JNTO, was notable compared to the increase in visitors from other countries observed during the same period, which positions Mexico as the country with the highest growth in visitors to Japan.

Among the reasons to which the Japanese tourism office attributed the record number of Mexican visitors is greater air connectivity, since flights operated by Aeroméxico and All Nippon Airways (ANA) resumed, which facilitated access to the country.

Also, the JNTO said, there were favorable economic conditions under which the yen in the first half of 2024 made Japan a more affordable destination for Mexican tourists.

Masumi Yamada, General Director of the JNTO Office in Mexico, expressed her enthusiasm for the growth of visitors to Mexico and reaffirmed the importance of continuing to promote Japan as a place where visitors can discover less explored corners.
