One of the most iconic heroes is finally coming back to the screen in the new Masters of the Universe trailer.
Led by 100 Nights of Hero‘s Nicholas Galitzine, the new film serves as a live-action reboot of the classic Mattel franchise, exploring the origin of Prince Adam as he’s sent to Earth as a child in order to be kept safe from the war occurring on his home planet of Eternia. After 20 years of searching, Adam finally discovers the legendary Power Sword, giving him a path to return home and transform into He-Man and fight alongside the remaining Guards of Eternia to stop the villainous Skeletor.
With just over a month remaining until both the film’s June 5 release, Amazon MGM Studios has released a new Masters of the Universe trailer. The action-packed video offers a further expansion on Adam’s journey to become the eponymous hero, including introducing the other Eternia warriors he’ll be working with in the hopes of saving their planet. Check out the trailer below:
Galitzine leads a star-studded ensemble with the Masters of the Universe reboot, with the cast also including Camila Mendes as Teela, Jared Leto as Skeletor, Idris Elba as Man-At-Arms, Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn, Morena Baccarin as the Sorceress, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson as Fisto and Kristin Wiig as Roboto, among others. The film hails from Travis Knight, his first live-action production since the well-received Transformers prequel Bumblebee in 2018.
In addition to the new trailer, Amazon and Mattel have announced a new game entitled Masters of the Universe: Legends Unite, which will launch on Amazon Luna the same day as the film’s release at no additional cost for Prime users. Developed by Gamenight, the title is a couch co-op game in which players can build decks full of iconic Eternian characters and actions as they engage in competitive trials in the hopes of earning treasure and defending Castle Grayskull.
The new Masters of the Universe trailer offers a few notable expansions from what was shown in the first footage for the 2026 reboot, one of the more notable being offering the Guards of Eternia more screentime. Elba’s Man-At-Arms and Mendes’ Teela were generally the two shown, understandable given they are bigger characters in most prior adaptations. However, in addition to revealing more of the pair’s dynamic with Prince Adam in the new film, it also offers the first look at Fisto, seemingly hinting at a modest role to come.
Masters Of The Universe’s Cast Is Massive, But 1 Missing Character Stands Out
The upcoming live-action Masters of the Universe has a packed cast of characters, but there’s one glaring omission thus far.
One of the other big additions to the new Masters of the Universe trailer is getting the first listen to Leto’s Skeletor voice for the reboot. Most adaptations of the franchise have seen the villain speak with a nasally, high-pitched voice, made iconic by Alan Oppenheimer, while others have offered slight variations, including Mark Hamill’s in Kevin Smith’s Netflix sequel series. Leto, on the other hand, looks to be utilizing a similar voice to his turn as the Hatbox Ghost in 2023’s Haunted Mansion reboot.
One interesting element featured more prominently in the new Masters of the Universe trailer is the scope and scale of the planet of Eternia. Between Teela showing Prince Adam the sheer extent of destruction that Skeletor’s civil war laid on his home, to him and the remaining Guards of Eternia soaring through lush, forest-like regions while pursued by enemy forces, Knight clearly isn’t looking to keep the film anchored to Castle Grayskull and the fallen capital.
