One of Jason Statham’s hit crime thriller movies is surging on Netflix‘s U.S. charts right now – and it may not be the one you’re thinking of. In fact, this movie first came out 13 years ago and is just now finding new life on Netflix heading into Super Bowl LX weekend.
Statham currently has this new 2026 action thriller, Shelter, in theaters, one of several recent movies starring the celebrated actor, including A Working Man (2025) and The Beekeeper (2024), to receive a decent box office pull in the early months of the year. This somewhat forgotten conspiracy thriller, however, is achieving a resurgence on Netflix right now.
Jason Statham’s Homefront Is Trending On Netflix – What It’s About
13 years after its theatrical release, the action crime thriller Homefront, starring Jason Statham, Winona Ryder, and James Franco, is a Netflix streaming hit. Currently trending at #8 in the U.S., this modern classic conspiracy thriller was just added to Netflix on February 1, 2026.
Homefront achieved a modest box office of just under $49 million worldwide (via Box Office Mojo) compared to its $22 million budget. The movie is a relatively quick watch with a 1-hour, 40-minute runtime, which may be contributing to its current Netflix success. Homefront is the latest movie starring Jason Statham that was made available to stream on Netflix, joining Wrath of Man, The Expendables 4, and more.
Perhaps the most interesting thing about Homefront isn’t its leading man but its writer, Sylvester Stallone. Stallone adapted the 2005 novel of the same name, written by Chuck Logan, into the 2013 action crime thriller. The movie follows a former DEA agent named Phil Broker, played by Statham, whose quiet life in a small town is upended when he comes into conflict with a local drug lord.
Homefront Is One Of Several Thriller Movies Just Added To Netflix
Homefront is one of several new thriller movies just added to Netflix at the top of February, which also include Ex Machina, Hell or High Water, and Zero Dark Thirty. While these three thrillers were all Oscar-nominated and a rung above the Statham flick, Homefront is still engaging to modern audiences, as evidenced by its current trending status.
Even though Homefront only received moderately positive reviews, resulting in a Rotten Tomatoes score of 42%, it remains a fan-favorite and a must-watch for all Statham fans. In addition, Homefront has become the latest surprise streaming hit on Netflix, and it will be interesting to see whether the 2013 thriller can maintain this strong momentum throughout the weekend.
