Passengers were injured after a JetBlue airline Airbus, which was heading from Mexico to New Jersey, was forced to make an emergency landing in Tampa, according to media.

The Airbus 320 left Cancun International Airport bound for Newark Liberty International Airport and began to lose altitude, so it had to divert to Tampa, where it landed shortly before 2:30 p.m. local time.

JetBlue reported that the aircraft experienced an altitude drop and that “medical personnel met passengers and crew, and those who needed additional care were taken to a local hospital,” although it did not indicate the number of passengers affected.

The airline added that the ship was removed from service for inspection and that it will conduct an investigation to determine what happened.

According to aviationnews.eu, preliminary reports suggest that the problem involved one of the plane’s flight control systems, essential components for managing the stability and direction of the aircraft.

The portal also indicates that the Airbus diverted to Florida as a precautionary measure for the safety of the passengers and that it notified the emergency services that they were on alert upon landing.
