In a period marked by global economic tensions and national political polarization, the leadership of José Medina Mora at the head of Coparmex Nacional (2021-2024) managed to articulate a model that integrated democratic values, sustainability and economic competitiveness to promote inclusive development.

During his management, Coparmex not only consolidated its position as a key organization in the defense of a prosperous and fair Mexico, but also demonstrated that growth can and should benefit everyone.

Medina Mora led an unprecedented effort to integrate small and large entrepreneurs from various industries and regions, under a scheme that promoted social and economic development with clear principles of equity and collaboration.

In a complex environment, he worked to establish trust and certainty in the country, attracting investment and generating employment, while ensuring that the benefits of this development reached all sectors of the population.

Hence the economic impact of his management was so relevant. Medina Mora advocated for supportive market policies, achieving a balance between business competitiveness and social responsibility.

Under his leadership, Coparmex not only defended a fair minimum wage, but also promoted structural reforms to improve working conditions in traditionally neglected sectors, such as agriculture and manufacturing. These policies not only sought to reduce inequality, but also to lay the foundations for sustainable growth that would allow companies to compete globally without leaving the most vulnerable sectors of society behind.

Additionally, Medina Mora was an active defender of labor inclusion, designing innovative programs that promoted the hiring of women, youth, and people with disabilities. These strategies not only diversified talent within companies, but also fostered a sense of belonging and collaboration that translated into higher levels of productivity and social cohesion.

The diversification of the labor market, combined with a focus on constant training, will position Mexico in the medium term as a more competitive country on the international stage, demonstrating that inclusion is an essential driver for economic development.

He will also be remembered for his clear promotion of the rule of law and defense of democracy. At critical moments, when democratic institutions faced threats, Coparmex, under his leadership, became a bulwark in protecting the independence of the powers of the State and electoral transparency.

Citizen awareness initiatives, especially during the 2023 and 2024 elections, strengthened trust in democratic processes and laid solid foundations for a stable and attractive environment for investors and entrepreneurs.

In the sphere of sustainability, Medina Mora stood out for his long-term vision. He recognized that economic growth cannot be divorced from environmental responsibility. Under his direction, Coparmex promoted responsible and sustainable business practices, preparing the productive sector for the challenges of climate change and technological transformations.

Although the progress was notable, challenges remain. The green transition, adaptation to the digital world and the impact of artificial intelligence will be critical areas in which Coparmex must maintain its leadership in the coming years. Likewise, continuing dialogue between sectors and with the government will be vital to consolidate this inclusive and resilient model.

José Medina Mora’s legacy stands as a testimony to the power of visionary and collaborative leadership. Its focus on well-being and economic equity has left an indelible mark on Coparmex’s history, inspiring a path toward a more just, sustainable and competitive Mexico.

Now, the challenge will be to convert that vision into lasting actions that transcend administrations and continue to improve the lives of millions of Mexicans. #OpiniónCoparmex
