Miami (EFE) .- The legendary guitarist of Metallica Kirk Hammett launched a premium photo album that offers a unique vision on his extraordinary collection of guitars and his musical career on Monday with Gibson Publishing.
‘The Collection: Kirk Hammett’, composed of 400 pages, includes photographs made by photographer Ross Halfin in places like Hawaii and Los Angeles, in addition to other rare images from their own file.
“I think the book captures the rich history and art behind each of these unique and exceptional instruments. Each image tells a story, and thanks to Ross Halfin and its exceptional photograph, each image of this book is worth more than a thousand words,” Hammett said in a statement.
‘The Collection: Kirk Hammett’ documented with meticulousness the eclectic guitar collection that the musician has used throughout his career, from his early years with Exodus to his current era as a meter of Metallica, the multipatine band and winner of nine Grammy awards with more than 125 million albums sold worldwide.

Among the most outstanding pieces are the historic Flying V of 1979 and the legendary Les Paul Standard of 1959 known as Greeny, which previously belonged to guitarists Peter Green and Gary Moore.
For Hammett, the project represents a unique opportunity to share its passion for guitars with their fans.
“For a person whose first incursions into heavy music in the late 1980s consisted of listening to Metallica albums until the cassettes tapes were spent, working closely with Kirk and the team in this project was an amazing experience,” said Chris Vinnicombe, Chief editor of Gibson.
“Kirk’s energy and passion are perceived on each page and there is no doubt that it has one of the most great guitar collections on the planet,” added Vinnicombe, responsible for writing and editing the book.
The book is presented in three Premium editions, one of them of only 300 copies signed by Hammett accompanied by accessories, such as an artistic impression to frame signed by both the guitarist and by Halfin, a miniature replica of the Gibson Flying V of 1979 and a special set of guitar spikes Dunlop Signature Jazz III.
