Lech Walesa, the Polish former president and leader of the solidarity union who played an important role in the fall of communism, signed a letter addressed to the president of the United States, Donald Trump, in which he expresses his “horror” for his discussion with the Ukrainian president, Volodimir Zelenski.
The Nobel Peace Prize published on Facebook the text of the letter, signed by 39 Polish political express.
In an extraordinary meeting that was broadcast live on Friday, Trump accused Zelenski of being displeased by US aid, of missing respect for his country and risking the third World War, questioning Washington’s current support to Ukraine in his three -year war with Russia.
“We have seen his conversation with the president of Ukraine, Volodimir Zelenski, with horror and displeasure,” said the letter.
“We consider its expectations offensive about showing respect and gratitude for the material aid provided by the United States to Ukraine in its fight against Russia,” the letter continued.
“Gratitude is due to the heroic Ukrainian soldiers who spilled blood in defense of the values of the free world.”

Walesa shows problems between Trump and Zelenski
Trump and the vice president, JD Vance, lashed out at Zelenski during the meeting, carrying relations with the most important ally of kyiv in times of war to a new minimum. The Ukrainian leader was invited to leave, according to an American spokesman.
The letter signed by Walesa compared the atmosphere of the meeting with that of “the interrogations of the security service and (…) the communist courts.”
He also asked the United States to fulfill the security guarantees he gave to Ukraine in 1994 after the disintegration of the Soviet Union.
“These guarantees are unconditional: there is not a word there on dealing with such help as an economic exchange,” said the letter.
The United States Embassy in Warsovia did not respond immediately to a request for comments.
The current president of Poland, Andrzej Doubt, said on Saturday that Zelenski should resume negotiations with the United States.
