Cybercriminals have stolen data from more than 8 thousand children who regularly attend nurseries in London, operated by the Kido International child care supplier, so they announced, presumably, the computer pirates themselves through their portal in the Dark Web.

The band, which is called Radiant Group, supported their statement by publishing the names, photographs, residential addresses and contact information of 10 children who, they said, attended one of the 18 Kido nurseries in the London.

The attack, which generates serious concerns about the protection of children and the privacy of data, is the last of a series of serious ransomware incidents in Great Britain that have affected British companies this year.

“Our next steps will be to publish 30 ‘profiles’ more than each child and 100 employees,” says the publication on the Radiant filtering website.

So far, Kido International has not responded to the signaling or made any statement.

In a statement, the London Metropolitan Police said there were no arrests. “The investigations are ongoing and are found in the early stages within the Cyber Crimes Unit of the Metropolitan Police,” the statement said.

Speaking through an encrypted messaging service, the computer pirates said they had access to Kido networks for weeks. When asked where they were, they claimed to be in Russia, although they did not provide evidence to support that statement.

Ransomware is a malicious software used by cybercriminals to encrypt a company data and demand a payment for its release. The hackers refused to reveal the amount demanded by Kido International.

“Cybercriminals will attack anyone who believe they have money in between, and persecute those who care for children is a particularly atrocious act,” said Jonathon Ellison, of the National Cyber Security Center, part of the British Espionage Agency GCHQ, in a statement.

More cyber attacks in England

A government source indicated Thursday that the British government was considering providing financial support to the suppliers of the Jaguar Land Rover car manufacturer, after the closure caused by a cyber attack extended until October.

A day before, the police announced that he had arrested a man as part of the investigation into a ransomware attack against Collins Aerospace, owned by RTX. The attack paralyzed automatic billing systems at the Heathrow London airport, the busiest in Great Britain, and caused chaos on trips in other airports in Europe.

In April, it was widely reported that a group of computer pirates called Scattered Spider was behind an attack that paralyzed the British retailer Marks & Spencer, preventing him from accepting online orders for weeks.

The company predicted in May that the attack would cost around 300 million pounds (405 million dollars) in operational profit losses during its fiscal year 2025/26.
