The city of Los Angeles has begun this Friday to approve the first home reconstruction licenses in Palisades, razed by a mortal fire last January, which include measures and demands against forest fires and disasters caused by the weather.

The mayor of Los Angeles Karen Bass today issued an executive emergency order to help residents of the coastal city who saw 6,837 structures destroyed, including 5.419 houses, and about two thousand damaged.

In a press conference at the site of the incident, Bass said that the order aims to accelerate the reconstruction of the households and businesses of the once wealthy city, “providing better protection” against natural disasters and promoting the use of resistant construction materials.

“That residents return home quickly and safely is my main priority, and we must rebuild with an eye on the future,” Bass said.

In addition, the Democratic mayor has focused on efforts on “simplifying permissions processing” for owners who rebuild fully electric and more resistant fire housing.

The Angelino City Council is also taking steps to strengthen public services and guarantee electricity supply during severe weather phenomena.

“We are taking measures to ensure that the infrastructure of our city can resist better future disasters and protect communities for coming generations,” added the Democrat who has had to face criticism for the response of firefighters to the incident.

The flames exploded on the morning of January 7 in Pacific Palisades, a neighborhood east of Malibu, as a forest fire that spread rapidly boosted by the winds of Santa Ana and the dry climatic conditions of southern California.
