Louis C.K. sold his Shelter Island home for above its most recent asking price, but the comedian may not have the last laugh.

The controversial comedian unloaded Primrose Cottage at 9-7 Westmoreland Drive to an undisclosed buyer for $4.35 million, Behind the Hedges reported. That represented a $50,000 premium on the Tudor-style residence’s last asking price.

The deal for the 2.2-acre, 5,000-square-foot home breaks down to $870 per square foot. There are six bedrooms and four-and-a-half bathrooms, as well as a 20-by-50-foot heated gunite pool, a hot tub and a brick patio.

The deal could be a disappointment for C.K. He listed the property for nearly $8 million last September before knocking down the asking price in August to $4.3 million; the home went under contract that same month and the deal closed on Halloween.

The waterfront estate once welcomed esteemed guests, including presidents Theodore Roosevelt and William McKinley and sports superstar Babe Ruth. The home includes a deepwater dock on West Neck Creek with room for multiple boats.

C.K. purchased the property in 2014 for $2.44 million, spending the next decade restoring and modernizing the home. Updates included central air conditioning, upgraded heating and insulation for more energy efficiency. The comedian also made notable changes to the chef’s kitchen and added a butler’s pantry.

Carl Gambino and Marco Maida of The Gambino Group at Compass had the listing.

In late 2022, C.K. sold his Greenwich Village co-op at 101 West 12th Street for $1.8 million. He bought the co-op in 2016 for $2.45 million, $55,000 above the asking price. He resigned himself to a loss on the apartment when he slashed the asking price by 25 percent, dropping it to $1.9 million from its $2.5 million initial ask.

The comedian is best known for his comedy series, “Louie,” which aired on FX for five seasons.

C.K. issued a statement in 2017 confirming allegations of sexual misconduct from multiple women. Despite the admission, he resurfaced on the comedy circuit a year later and recently performed at the controversial Riyadh Comedy Festival.
