The president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, said Monday that he hopes that it will be convened, “as soon as possible”, to a summit with the governments of the countries that make up the community of Latin American and Caribbean states (CELAC) to denounce what he considers “plans of military aggression” by the US, which deployed search near the Venezuelan coasts.
“I wish a presidential summit, whether virtual, of heads of state and heads of Government of the CELAC (…) and open the space to Venezuela to denounce all these plans of military aggression,” Maduro said in a press conference with international media.
Likewise, the Chavista leader thanked the CELAC and its provisional president, the president of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, for “what is being done for the voice of Latin America to be heard” and stop what he called as “warrior madness” of the US secretary of state, Marco Rubio.
In this regard, he said that Rubio wants to “stain” the hands of the president of the United States, Donald Trump, with “Venezuelan blood”, accusing the Secretary of State for seeking a political change in Venezuela with a “military threat.”
“Donald Trump, you have to take care of yourself because Marco Rubio wants to stain his blood hands, with South American, Caribbean blood, with Venezuelan blood, want to take him to a bloodbath,” said Maduro, who denounced that eight military ships deployed by the US with 1,200 missiles and a nuclear submarine “point” to the Caribbean country.
Venezuela alerted this Monday to CELAC that 4,200 “trained” troops from the United States are “ready and prepared to invade” their territory, so he called to demand the immediate retirement of these military and the eight vessels that, according to Caracas, are deployed near their coasts.
