The National Association of Bus, truck and tractocamion producers (ANPACT) said that the decarbonization of merchandise and passengers requires public policies, tax incentives and green fuels to be achieved in the short, medium and long term.
“The renewal of the vehicular fleet is not only a goal, but an urgent need to improve air quality, reduce pollutant gas emissions, strengthen our economy and guarantee a healthier future for coming generations,” said Rogelio Arzate, executive president of the agency in the Discarbonization forum of passenger and cargo self -transport forum in Mexico.
ANPACT associates agreed that the transition to decarbonization must include the coexistence of clean technologies, such as Euro VI EPA 10 engines, which use ultrabajo diesel in sulfur.
They indicated that in order to achieve the decarbonization of the transport fleet, the consistent, strategic and quality gas supply of vehicle natural gas, electricity, green and biofuel hydrogen is also required.

They added that the renewal of fleet at the national level is one of the main challenges when considering that the average age of the fleet ranges between 18 and 29 years, so “it is essential to have programs, public policies, tax incentives, clear rules and goals based on reality to achieve the objectives.”
“In order to contribute to public health and the reduction of pollutant emissions, the automotive industry of heavy vehicles delineates the objectives and together efforts to develop the route map for the decarbonization of the passenger and cargo autotransport,” they said.
“The discussions and work carried out in the forum will contribute to developing this road map, as well as objectives, actions and instruments in the short, medium and long term to travel to the decarbonization of the self -transport sector,” they added.
“Only through a narrow collaboration among all the key actors, the objectives that we have set as a country can be achieved, in line with the United Nations 2030 Agenda and the commitments established in the Mexico Plan, which President Claudia Sheinbaum has delineated, in search of mitigating climate change and moving towards a more sustainable transport,” said Rogelio Arzate
“We will address the different sustainable technologies, considering the necessary energy infrastructure and public policies that support this transition,” he added.

“All this includes the consistent and strategic supply of the energy source, as well as the implementation of financial incentives and instruments to facilitate the adoption of more sustainable vehicles,” he said.
He emphasized that joint work is the key to ensuring that the autotransport of the future is efficient, accessible and respectful of the environment.
Experts participating in the forum underlined the need to advance in the supply, generation and distribution of priority energy sources, as well as energy infrastructure and boost actions to encourage public and private investment.
They asked to foster joint investments between government and private initiative, as well as regulatory certainty to reach investment, a stop floor between the different actors of the value chain and the development of patents to give worldwide visibility to the “made in Mexico”.
