The Maracaná is one of the eight confirmed stadiums to officiate as the headquarters of the matches of the Women’s Soccer World Cup of seniors, to develop between June 24 and July 25, 2027 in Brazil, FIFA reported on Wednesday.
With a video full of Brazilian personalities, such as Vinicius Júnior, Marta and Kaká, FIFA confirmed on its social networks the National Stadium, in Brasilia; The Itaquera Arena, in São Paulo and the Arena Fonte Nova, in Salvador as other spaces to house the matches of some of the 32 participating selections.
To those four are added the Mineirão stadium, in Belo Horizonte; The Castelão Arena de Fortaleza, the Beira-Rio in Porto Alegre and the Pernambuco Arena, in Recife.
The next edition of the Women’s Soccer World Cup will be the first to be held in a country in Latin America since the competition began in 1991, with China as chosen headquarters.

Since then, the tournament has had seven host countries and five teams have been champions: United States, four times; Germany, in two; Norway, Japan and Spain, current world champion
