Dalma Maradona, one of Diego’s daughters Armando Maradona, denounced on Tuesday, during the trial for the death of his father, that the doctors who treated him when he died hindered the contact of the Argentine idol with his family and deceived them “in the most cruel way” about their last hospitalization.

Dalma, one of the two daughters that the former soccer player had with his ex -wife, Claudia Villafañe, went to the Criminal Court number 3 of San Isidro, province of Buenos Aires, and provided testimony for the first time since the beginning of the trial against seven health professionals for the death of his father on November 25, 2020.

Maradona’s daughter hardly questioned the medical team that was in charge of her father’s care during home hospitalization, after an operation on the head on November 3, 2020, and accused that they limited the contact that she and other relatives could have with Diego.

“Many times I said that I did not recognize my dad in the last time because he no longer laughed, he was lost, if we were in a video call I did not know who was on the other side,” said Dalma, who warned of this situation to the team that treated his father.

“The doctors said it was normal, that it was weeks, but that it was going to be fine and obviously during all that last time they cut us all contact time,” he added, and said that those who hindered contact with their father were his head doctor, Leopoldo Luque, the psychiatrist Agustina Cosachov and the psychologist Carlos Díaz.

Asked for her participation in decision making about the former soccer player and the procedures to which she was submitted, Dalma explained: “We did not have much interference, we could say what we looked like but we did not decide anything.”

As he said, after Maradona’s operation on November 3, Luque told the family that the only option for the recovery process was a home hospitalization, while ruled out the possibility of a hospitalization – voluntary or by force – at the Olivos Clinic, on the outskirts of the city of Buenos Aires.

“We argued the 3 options, it did not seem so bad because they promised us the same (in home hospitalization) as in the Olivos Clinic, and never happened. They cheated us in the most cruel way,” said Dalma, who said that the conditions of the house in which his father was hospitalized did not fit what they had promised them.

Dalma also denounced that Matías Morla, Maradona’s lawyer; Maximiliano Pomargo, assistant of the former soccer player; and Vanesa Morla, sister of Matías, who handled her father’s affairs, also hindered contact with the family during the last hospitalization.

“He called me and told me ‘Never come, come, bring me to the baby (her granddaughter).’

“They told us that everything was fine”

“They told us that everything was controlled and that everything was fine, but they did not allow us to admit for which we could not corroborate that it was true,” he added, while complaining about the lack of attention to his father during his last days.

Given the consultation on how many occasions he was denied access, Dalma replied that “many, many times,” and emphasized that Diego did not believe him when he told him.

In addition to Luque, Cosachov and Díaz, the Dr. and coordinator of the Swiss Medical, Nancy Forlini, doctor Pedro Di Spagna, the Nursing Coordinator Mariano Perroni and the nurse Ricardo Almirón, are tried in this process.

Nurse Gisela Madrid is also prosecuted but will face a jury trial, as requested.

Judges Maximiliano Savarino, Verónica Di Tommaso and Julieta Makintach must determine if seven of the eight defendants are guilty of the crime of simple homicide with eventual intent, which has a maximum penalty of 25 years in prison
