Tens of thousands of people participate on Monday in more than a thousand protests against US President Donald Trump, on the occasion of Labor Day in the United States, and accuse the tycoon of favoring great fortunes to the detriment of the working class.
The American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations convened more than a thousand protests throughout the country, especially in the Democratic states of California, New York and Illinois, under the motto ‘The workers above the billionaires’.
The purpose of the demonstrations is to stop what they consider “the power” by the great fortunes, for which they demand an increase in the financing of public services, of the investment in people instead of wars and the protection of the educational system.
One of the greatest mobilizations takes place in the city of Chicago, where this festive date coincides with a moment of special tension for the possible militarization of the city by the United States government.
“This is not a democracy,” he heard several of the protesters, while danced to the rhythm of music and advanced holding banners or posters.
One of them, sustained by a man, prayed ‘not to the troops in Chicago’, while another who was carrying a woman said: ‘Parado deportations, defend migrants, making it clear that both issues had mixed with protests over Labor Day.
“Trump is one of the billionaires who is destroying our country, he is playing a role to fill his pockets and those of his billionaire friends,” said one of the members of the organization during his speech.
The Trump administration has expressed its desire to deploy the National Guard in Chicago to combat crime in the city, as it recently did in Washington DC
But as happened in the capital, the mayor of Chicago, Brandon Johnson, has rejected the idea, which regretted that it is part of a plan to increase raids against undocumented migrants in the city.
Similar claims took place in other parts of American geography. In the capital, thousands of union members and workers took to the streets to demonstrate against Trump and his taking of the city.
In Los Angeles, where Trump deployed thousands of military last June to stop protests against migratory raids, the demonstrations are summoned for this afternoon.
The demonstrations are also scheduled in hundreds of smaller cities.
The United States lived similar protests against Trump on July 4, Independence Day, or on June 14, the day of the 250th anniversary of the US army and that coincided with his 79th birthday, to which he organized a colorful military parade that received criticism for projecting “an autocratic image”.
