The president of the United States, Donald Trump, and his counterpart from Russia, Vladimir Putin, concluded his summit in Alaska with a brief joint press conference in which they did not announce any agreement on peace in Ukraine.
Trump said the meeting of more than three hours with Putin and his delegation at the base of Elmendorf-Richardson was “extremely productive”, but “we have not reached” at the finish line.
“Many points remembered. There are only a few who stayed (without resolving). Some are not significant. One is probably the most significant, but we have a good opportunity to solve them. We have not arrived there, but we have a good opportunity to achieve it,” Trump said cryptic at a press conference without questions.
According to White House officials, the first contact of this summit began at 11:30 local time (19.30 GMT).
Trump was accompanied by the Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, and the special envoy for the Middle East and mediator with the Kremlin, Steve Witkoff, while together with Putin they attended Russian Foreign Minister, Serguéi Lavrov, and Yuri Ushakov, Kremlin International Policy Advisor.
