For decades, menopause was treated as a minor biological episode or even a cultural taboo. By the end of 2025, this vision becomes unsustainable. Women’s health has ceased to be a peripheral issue and has become a strategic axis of medical innovation, public awareness and economic growth. And Mexico, with its unique conditions, is in a position to lead this transformation.

A turning point has been the historic decision of the FDA in the United States: after more than twenty years, the agency has begun the withdrawal of widespread “black box” warnings on hormone replacement therapies (HRT) for menopause. This change is not anecdotal; is the result of an in-depth review of scientific evidence, including new analyzes from the Women’s Health Initiative, and a renewed understanding of the role of estrogen in bone, cardiovascular, metabolic and cognitive health. In women under 60 years of age or within ten years of menopause, HRT is no longer only safe for many patients: it represents a preventive tool with a proven impact on longevity.

The conversation is no longer just medical. The global menopausal health market will exceed $600 billion by 2030, and in Mexico more than 16 million women are going through this hormonal transition. When not treated with a comprehensive approach, menopause increases the risk of chronic diseases, affects work productivity and generates systemic costs that have not yet been fully measured.

Menopause, longevity and an opportunity for high growth for Mexico

Mexico has an opportunity that goes beyond the clinic: to consolidate itself as a regional hub in advanced women’s health. It has the medical talent, a growing private healthcare infrastructure, competitive costs versus the US, and a privileged position in wellness tourism. If we manage to align regulation with evidence, update medical training programs and implement personalized care models, we could transform menopause into an engine of innovation and economic development.

We are facing a generation of women that no longer accepts the narrative of inevitable wear and tear. Businesswomen, leaders, professionals and entrepreneurs are not only looking to go through menopause: they want to redesign their second half of life with vitality, clarity and purpose.

The women’s health revolution is not a trend: it is an ongoing reality. If Mexico understands that female longevity is not an expense, but a strategic asset, it will be able to lead not only in medicine, but in the country’s vision
