Local sellers in Mexico will be able to place their offers on Temu, the online sales platform announced this Thursday.

The intention, the company said, is to support local businesses, and offer Mexican consumers a greater variety of affordable and high-quality products.

Access to sell through the platform will be by invitation, Temu said.

Likewise, he added that the program is available exclusively to businesses registered in Mexico with locally stored inventory, as this condition allows faster delivery times and facilitates the sale of bulky products, such as furniture, that are difficult to transport by air.

The “local to local” model, Temu said, has already proven successful in markets such as the United States, Germany, France, Italy, Spain and the Netherlands.

In Mexico, he added, it is the opportunity for entrepreneurs to have the possibility of reaching millions of buyers.

Temu was launched in Mexico in May 2023, while by August of that year it became the most downloaded app in the country, with more than 6 million downloads.

Globally, Temu is the second most visited global website, with 185.6 million monthly active users on the app.
