President Claudia Sheinbaum presented the Regional Economic Development and Relocation Advisory Council, led by businesswoman Altagracia Gómez, which will coordinate the first completely Latin space mission, led by Katya Echazarreta, the first Mexican woman in space and veteran of five missions. from NASA.
The council coordinator highlighted the aerospace industry as a priority due to its strategic value and its annual growth of 14% in the last 20 years.
“By 2030, we must increase at least 10% in local content and exports of the aerospace industry, which, although it seems simple, represents a significant achievement in terms of investment,” he stated.

Mexican Katya Echazarreta will lead the first completely Latin mission to space
The action plan presented includes strong support for STEM areas and the aerospace industry, with three high-impact projects.
Altagracia Gómez described the three fundamental projects of the plan:
1.- Lead the first 100% Latin space mission with astronaut Katya Echazarreta, planned for 2027.
2.- The manufacture of the complete engine in Mexico, with a significant investment announced by the Safran group.
3.- The launch of a totally Mexican satellite, announced by President Sheinbaum.
Gómez concluded by emphasizing that the Government will collaborate closely with the private and academic sectors in these projects.
