The Mexican Stock Exchange (BMV) suffered a 2.55 %drop on Monday, a setback that led to the price and contributions index (CPI), its main indicator, to be located at 60,404.19 units, dragged by the strong loss of the Grupo México Estir, the second with the highest capitalization within the CPI.
“The capital market closed the session with mixed results among the main stock market rates globally,” the director of Economic and Financial Analysis of the Banco Base, Gabriela Siller, told Efe.
In Mexico, said the expert, the CPI “closed the session with a loss of 2.55 %, the largest fall since April 4 (when it fell 4.8 %), because the Grupo México station, the second with the greatest capitalization within the CPI, showed a loss of 15.43 %in the session”.
“The loss occurs after last Friday, Grupo México presented an offer to buy Banamex, which would imply indebtedness,” added the specialist.
Within the Mexican market, he added, highlighted the losses of the stations: megacable (-3.1%), Banorte (-2.58%), Peñoles Industries (-2.03%), Orbia (-1.6%) and Walmex (-1.55%).
Meanwhile, the Director of Economic Analysis of the Actinver Financial Group, Enrique Covarrubias, indicated that with the decline of this day the Mexican index accumulates a contraction of -4% so far in October and reduced its gain so far from 2025 to 22%.
