The Mexican Stock Exchange (BMV) fell 0.19% this Friday to close October with a slight loss of 0.23%, while its main indicator, the Price and Quotation Index (IPC), reached a new historical high of 63,540.28 units.
Furthermore, with the negative close in October, the Mexican market accumulated seven months on the rise and three on the decline.
“The capital market closed the month with widespread gains among the main global stock indices, due to optimism due to the cut in the interest rate by the Federal Reserve, leading most of the indices to reach new historical highs during the month,” the director of economic and financial analysis of the firm Banco Base, Gabriela Siller, explained to EFE.
In Mexico, the expert noted, the BMV CPI closed the month with a slight loss of 0.23%, but reaching a new historical maximum of 63,540.28 points.
Within the Mexican market, Siller indicated, the profits of the stations stood out: Becle (+16.29%), Cemex (+15.12%), América Móvil (+10.54%), Vesta (+8.80%), Walmart de México (+8.57%) and Coca Cola Femsa (+5.19%).
Meanwhile, the director of Economic Analysis of the financial group Actinver, Enrique Covarrubias, pointed out that with this Friday’s decline, the CPI accumulated a weekly advance of 2.7%, a monthly drop of -0.2% and so far this year it is +26.8%.

“In the month, 24 of the 35 stations ended with losses, highlighting Regional, Alsea and GAP, while Becle, Cemex and América Móvil registered the greatest advances,” mentioned Covarrubias.
On the day, the peso depreciated 0.70% against the dollar, trading at 18.57 units per greenback, compared to 18.44 on the previous day, according to data from the Bank of Mexico.
The volume traded in the market reached 331.41 million securities for an amount of 18,747 million pesos (about 1,009 million dollars).
Of the 653 firms that traded on the day, 352 ended with their prices rising, 276 had losses and 25 closed unchanged.
The titles with the greatest upward variation were from the domestic products company Grupo Vasconia with 15.25%; of the sports center chain Sports World, with 7.62%, and of the frequently consumed products company Grupo Nutrisa, with 5.75%.
In contrast, the largest downward variations were from the automotive insurer Qualitas, with -4.68%; from the recycling company Convertora Industrial, with -3.23%, and from the construction materials firm Grupo Lamosa, with -2.79%.
