The Mexican Stock Exchange (BMV) rose 1.61% this Wednesday and the Price and Quotations Index (IPC) recorded a new high of 67,403.08 points.

The last maximum reached by the Mexican Stock Market occurred on Monday, with 66,745.61 units, while during the year the CPI accumulated an advance of 4.81%.

“The CPI of the BMV closed the session with a gain of 1.61%, advancing in four of the last five sessions and reaching a new historical maximum,” the director of Economic and Financial Analysis of Banco Base, Gabriela Siller, told EFE.

Within the market, the specialist added, the earnings of the stations stood out: Banorte (+5.18%), Arca Continental (+4.22%), Grupo México (+3.99%), Kimberly-Clark (+2.7%) and Sigma (+2.69%).

Enrique Covarrubias, director of Economic Analysis of the financial group Actinver, highlighted that, with this movement, the accumulated performance for 2026 is +4.8%.

“Among the 35 stations that make up the index, 27 closed in positive territory,” said the expert, who added that Grupo Aeroportuario Centro Norte (OMA), Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico (GAP) and Quálitas registered “the most relevant declines.”

On the day, the Mexican peso appreciated 0.17% against the dollar, trading at 17.81 units per greenback, compared to 17.84 on the previous day, according to data from the Bank of Mexico.

The volume traded in the market reached 212 million securities for an amount of 19,343 million pesos.

Of the 765 firms that traded on the day, 323 ended with their prices rising, 420 had losses and 22 closed unchanged.

The titles with the greatest upward variation were from the consumer products company Fomento Economico Mexicano (FEMSA UB), with 5.5%; of the Banorte Financial Group (GFNORTE O), with 5.18%, and of the Mexican Restaurant Corporation (CMR B), with 4.86%.

In contrast, the greatest downward variations were from the airline Aeroméxico (AERO), with –9.89%; from the airline Volaris (VOLAR A), with -4.54%, and from the wood and paper products company Teak (TEAK CPO), with -4.49%.
