The Secretary of Foreign Affairs cited, based on figures from US organizations, that the nearly 4.8 million undocumented Mexicans in the United States contribute nearly $42.6 billion in taxes.

While the fiscal contribution amounts to 121.5 billion dollars when considering all Mexican migrants in general.
“Even those who do not have documents pay taxes and contribute significantly to the payment of taxes in the United States,” the official noted.
The chancellor’s presentation occurs while the country is concerned about the massive deportations promised by Trump because Mexicans are close to half of the 11 million undocumented immigrants in the United States and their remittances represent almost 4% of Mexico’s gross domestic product (GDP). .
In the United States there are a total of 38.4 million Mexicans, of which 11.5 million are first-generation migrants, including undocumented ones.
De la Fuente reiterated the promise to provide legal advice and protection to Mexicans at risk of deportation through the 53 consulates in the United States, where they carry out 5.2 million procedures annually.
“In order to serve our countrymen and women, Mexico has the largest consular network in the world in a single country, that is, no other country in the world has as many consulates in another country as Mexico has in the United States,” he said. .
The leader of Mexican diplomacy defended the results of the Government of Mexico to address the migratory flow by citing a 75% reduction in the encounter of irregular migrants on the border with the United States since December 2023, based on the Office of Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
