The Ministry of Economy reported that the Undersecretary of Foreign Trade, Luis Rosendo Gutiérrez, carried out a working commission to the city of Ottawa, in Canada, in which he held a meeting with the Minister of Export Promotion, International Trade and Economic Development , Mary Ng, and they talked about the benefits that the USMCA has brought to the region and how it has deepened economic integration.
According to information from the agency, in the company of the ambassador to Canada, Carlos Joaquín González, the official met with the President and CEO of the Business Council of Canada (BCC), Goldy Hyder, and the Senior Vice President of Business Planning and Operations Council of Canada, Jack Hughes, to discuss the political and economic situation at the federal and provincial level in Canada, with the aim of identifying and establishing contact with key players who are allies and partners in the economic and industrial development of Mexico.
Undersecretary Gutiérrez also held a meeting with the newly appointed Ambassador of Canada to Mexico, Cameron MacKay, and the Deputy Chief of Mission and Minister Counselor of the Embassy of Canada in Mexico, Mark Richardson.
They took advantage of the occasion to establish a productive start in relations between the two, and ensure that there is good coordination that guarantees optimal results for both countries.
The undersecretary had a presentation at the Annual North American Manufacturing Conference, organized jointly by the Confederation of Industrial Chambers of the United Mexican States (CONCAMIN), the Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters association (CM&E), and the National Association of Manufacturers of the United States (NAM).
The event brings together executives from the main manufacturing companies in the region and government officials from the three North American countries, with the aim of formulating strategies to address the challenges in regional supply chains and building a common front to extra-regional competition.
During his visit to the Canadian capital, Undersecretary Gutiérrez Romano also met with Rob Wildeboer, President of the Board of Directors and Co-Founder of Martinrea, a company dedicated to the production of auto parts and with a long and strong presence in Mexico.
